The Kecak itself is taken from the Ramayana which prince Rama, a warrior and rightful hire to the throne of Ayodya, goes hunting for a golden deer and his beautiful wife is kidnapped by the evil Rawana who want to have Sita (Rama’s wife) to be his wife, and Rama rounds up his armies to defeat those evil. They wave their arms to simulate fire and reposition themselves around the stage to represent wind and fire, prison cells, and unseen hand of protection from the Gods and this dance is played in five acts.
