Protecting the Odd and Rare Animals of Our World

Many people today are becoming involved in animal rescue projects. They try to work with government organizations to protect some endangered species from becoming extinct. Most of the types of animals which fall into the category of rare animals are small creatures and amphibians that don’t draw much attention from the general public. However, there is a large creature which has been around for several centuries who is now facing extinction. This exotic animal is the Komodo Dragon. It is native to the Eastern continents and is actually a member of the lizard family.

This particular creature is believed to be the ancestor of what people believe was the original dragon often written about in stories. As with many strange animals we hear about, it is hard to determine whether or not there ever existed a flying version of this creature, let alone one that could breath fire. The current dragon does have a problem with surviving in its current environment. In addition to being overrun or killed by humans, it also is being destroyed by volcanoes which erupt in their vicinity. They are large slow moving animals which need some type of government protection to help ensure the survival of their species.

Another strange and rare creature is the stripped rabbit. This animal resembles the traditional rabbit, but has stripped markings on its coat. It is native to Burma and has only been recently discovered to even exist. There are a lot of new and unusual species existing in regions where humans have not ventured into as overwhelmingly as other land areas. This is the case of areas like the rain forest or the desert, where most of these unique animals are found. To protect these animals from facing extinction, humans need to begin preserving areas of their natural environment so they will continue to breed and reproduce in a natural fashion.
