Jumpa pers ASEAN Jazz Festival 2009 yang berlangsung pada hari Kamis 9 Juli 2009 bertempat di ruang rapat Direktorat Jendral Pemasaran lantai 17 Gedung Departemen Kebudayaan Dan Pariwisata Republik Indonesia.
Para musisi yang hadir dalam jumpa pers tersebut antara lain: Imelda Rosalin, Gerald “Sketsa”, Masmo “Notturno”, Rindra “Alien Loves Earth” bersama bpk. Sapta Nirwandar – Direktur Jenderal Pemasaran Departemen Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata Republik Indonesia , bpk. Robert Iwan Loriaux – Kepala Dinas Pariwisata Provinsi Kepulauan Riau, bpk. Raja Muchsin - Kepala Dinas Pariwisata Pemerintah Kota Batam serta bpk. Indra S SAID dari PT.Taria selaku event organiser yang ditunjuk sebagai pelaksana penyelenggaraan.
Hal ini dilatar belakangi oleh suksesnya penyelenggaraan ASEAN Jazz Festival 2008 tahun lalu, serta program pemerintah dalam pendukung suksesnya program Visit Indonesia 2009, dan meneruskan serta menguatkan tradisi bahwa Indonesia sebagai pelopor, menciptakan kegiatan Festival Musik Jazz yang melibatkan musisi-musisi muda Jazz berbakat dari negara-negara ASEAN.
Following the success of last year ASEAN Jazz Festival, Ministry of Culture and Tourism Republic of Indonesia, appointed PT Taria as event organizer for this ASEAN Jazz Festival 2009 in purpose to support Visit Indonesian Year 2009 theme. This Festival is also arranged by the local government as a special entertainment to local people of the Batam Island.
This years edition of ASEAN Jazzfestival will be held on August 7th and 8th in Costarina, Batam, Kepulauan Riau. Coastarina-Batam is a strategic coast entertainment venue was developed as tourism attractions in Batam Island. This location could be reached within 1 hour by ferry from Singapore ,so the venue is perfect for an International scale festival which will be attracted many foreign tourist and could be an event to invite many young talented artist and musicians in this region, especially in South East Asia , as far as we know that Batam is one of main foreign tourism gateway entrance to Indonesia, after Jakarta and Bali
The event will forward and strengthen the tradition of Indonesia as a pioneer, creating the Jazz Festival activities involving musicians-Jazz talented young musicians from the state ASEAN countries.

Returning for its 4th edition, the Asean Jazz Festival will once again groove the shores of Harbor Bay, Batam on July 22nd-23rd 2011. Hailed as an event that presents jazz not only as entertainment but also as a media for education and appreciation, the Asean Jazz Festival is an annual event initiated since 2008 by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia
The island of Batam is chosen as the venue for the event since it is relatively easy to reach for tourists and audiences from the neighboring countries of Singapore and Malaysia, as well as for jazz enthusiasts from all over the ASEAN region.
Renowned musicians who have performed at this popular festival include Toninho Horta of Brazil; the Dwiki Dharmawan World Peace Orchestra and rising Indonesian jazz singing stars, Ivan Nestorman,Dira Sugandi, Krakatau, Marisa Luisa from the Philippines, BassGroove from Malaysia, Eugene Ang from Singapore, Natasha Patampongs from Thailand, Bandaneira (Lea Simanjuntak and Irsa Destiwi), Barry Likumahuwa’s BLP Project and many others have also brought the groove to the festival.
This year, the festival will certainly bring some of the best Jazz stars of the region.
Held in one of the most popular islands in the country, the Asean Jazz Festival also acts as an invitation for visitors from all over South East Asia to explore the marvels of Indonesia.
